As the 2024 chapter ends and the 2025 chapter begins, I usually take this time to reflect on the past year ⌛️ From the highlights, successes, and wins to the letdowns, fails, and losses. I recognize that I may not be the most perfect human being this world has seen, but I know that I’ve done my best, and I hope that what I have done left me a better starting point this #NewYear 🎊

Let’s start the new year right by doing good. You know what? Let’s make it our New Year’s resolution. Even better yet, let’s make it our life goal 🎯 Let’s take time to acknowledge one another, support one another, and validate each other’s feelings, emotions, and fears 😌

As last Saturday’s commencement ceremony came and went like the wind and summer around the corner, I can’t forget the individuals who supported me throughout my journey and believed in me the entire way 🥹✨

“I’m scared to go to college…” 😳
This thought occurred at the end of high school for me. I was too scared to enter into a new realm, into the void of the unknown 😨

I’m sure each one of us, those in college and pondering about college, has had this thought. We’ve all been there 😮‍💨 But once you make that first step into orientation, first seat in your first class, or even just walk around campus, you’ll still feel nervous, but just know this, it will be all worth it in the end 😌

Going straight into a 4-year university is not easy for most 😬 It sure as hell wasn’t for me 😮‍💨 But as I look back on what I have accomplished while in university and what I’ve learned being here, it’s that the journey and struggles you take on make you stronger at the end of it all 💪🏼

As my final chapter at CSU Channel Islands comes to a close, I want to look back on the past 6 years here 💭 All the memories I’ve made, all of the people I’ve met, and all the new and exciting things I’ve learned 💡

Yes, it may have taken a little longer than usual to attain this #expensivepaper 📜 but, in all honesty, every minute in the classroom and every mile walked to and from classes, it’s been worth it since the beginning ☺️

Through mental challenges to peer pressure, choices have been difficult to make within the past years, but with perseverance and integrity, anything is possible.

As we say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024, let’s not live our past but honor it, learn from it, and cherish the good parts of it 💡 Life is too short to hold grudges, judge others, and bring others down 😳 Why not bring yourself up? Do something nice for others? Pray for others?

We can say that we’ve learned a lot from this year, like every other year, but ask yourself, did you learn something? 🤔 Did something in your head say, “Oh wow, let’s change that” or “let’s do it differently”? If not, get out of your comfort zone to find that flaw, to find that mistake and correct it, or make it better 😤

The CSU Young Males of Color Consortium held their 4th Annual Conference at @sandiegostateuniversity, and let me say, it was well worth it 🙌🏼 A special shout-out to @ci_asi for inviting me to this conference and @csuci_iss for welcoming me to the brotherhood and taking care of us these past couple of days 🥰

Being surrounded by Brothers of Color at this conference, after feeling such a minority usually, felt incredibly fulfilling 🤩 Seeing, hearing, supporting, and understanding one another is essential to each other's success 💫 Building a further understanding of the needs and capabilities of men, and women, of color will make the world a better place 🌎

If this conference has taught me anything, it is to understand and support my fellow brothers 🫂 Our stories may be different but similar in ways 📚 From our early childhood to our current college days. We should be there to listen, mentor, and support one another. We will need each other down the road 🛟

I’m only a month and a half late 🤡

A birthday spent with friends at a fair 🎡 We’ve always wanted to go to the #VCFair together as a group, and this year, I’m glad we could enjoy it together, and on my birthday 😋

This year, so far, has been full of ups and downs, but mostly ups 😊 Not only did I meet new friends, experience new things, and get involved more in my community, but I’ve also learned more about myself 😌 Though not everything is what it seems to be. Many people and things mask themselves from what/who they are. Many doors are left open for you to explore. Many paths showcase a new route in life. These have been my experiences so far 🚶🏽

I’m proud of who I’ve grown to be 🤗 With the guidance and support from my mother to the endless adventures and self-reflections with my friends, these past 23 years of life have truly been one I thought would never have happened without everything that happened; the people I’ve met 💫

On September 5th, applicants from all over Sector LA/LB came to Sector for an introduction to the U.S Coast Guard ⚓️ These applicants received a tour of Base LA/LB and met with Active Duty members to ask them about their positions and areas where they work 🪖

Four of the applicants got the opportunity to swear onboard the USCGC George Cobb by the Commanding Officer and entered the Delayed Entry Program (DEP), awaiting their time to get shipped out to bootcamp✋🏼

This Patriots Day, 23 years later, we still remember. 🇺🇸

As my journey at @csuci comes to an end and summer quickly approaching, I am reminded why this expensive paper was one to wait for 🎓

I realize that many may not aspire to be college graduates due to their financial statuses or their family background 😞 It may seem like a burden to many or even a waste of time and money. What I can truly say now is that with this degree, I am able to support those individuals and families who are troubled or who are lost 😇

This degree symbolizes my dedication to a cause. A cause to be someone’s light in their darkness. To help them out of the well they’ve fallen into. To help them reach the peak instead of the looming valley beneath them 🙌🏼

As said in Proverbs 3:27, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” 🙏🏼 That power is in my hands. It’s is my duty to fulfill the Lord’s will, to help my fellow brothers and sisters. 🫶🏼

Whether it’s your family, friends, neighbors, or even a stranger, you can make a small impact that creates a bigger change ✨ One thing I will leave is a question. Now that you have the power to create change in someone’s life, how will you impact their lives for the better? 🤗

March 10, 2034 // The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 7 held their annual Change of Watch Ceremony at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club. This event symbolizes the transition from one Division Commander to another, conducted by the District Commodore (first photo).

During the ceremony, around 80 people showed up, including the Station Channel Islands Officer in Charge, Director of the Auxiliary from Sector LA-LB, and the Deputy Executive Officer of Air Sta FOB Point Mugu/ Air Sta Ventura, various other active duty personnel, Auxiliarists, and friends and family.

The event consisted of a brunch by the Yacht Club, the Change of Watch, and an award ceremony from Sector LA-LB, Division 7, and the individual flotillas.

Being new to the Coast Guard Auxiliary and already attaining a Flotilla Staff Officer (FSO) position, I am indeed proud of the work we do along side our goldside (active duty) half and partners in our community. 😁

Being award the Commander’s Choice Award for Flotilla 114-07-02 is a surprise to me as my name was called to receive the award 🎖️ Though I may be a new member of Team Coast Guard, I am more than happy and willing to bring in my talents and skills that I’ve attained throughout the years ☺️

I look forward to what the Auxiliary has for me in my near future and all the skill sets I receive through this journey 🥰 Now… Time for a recruitment bit 😋 If you are interested in learning more or even joining the USCG Auxiliary, please DM me or email me at military@noahtyler.us! 😅
