Promoting Recreational Boating Safety while protecting, supporting, and augmenting the U.S. Coast Guard and our nation.
With the interest of commissioning as a Naval Nurse with the United States Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary was the next best thing before entering military service. The USCG Auxiliary program is the uniformed civilian volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard aimed at providing maritime and general public awareness of the recreational boating world. USCG Auxiliary also assists the U.S. Coast Guard with Search and Rescue cases from time to time, though the Auxiliary program's number one priority is Recreational Boating Safety.
I saw this as an opportunity to give back while also learning more about the Uniformed Services without the need to enlist or commission this early into my career. With the military background of my father and many more, I found this opportunity hard to miss. With the guidance of my mentors, who are older than I am, and the motivation to assist, teach, and give back to my community, I see this as the opportunity of a lifetime.
